REMINDERS

Please be reminded that the drop-off and pick-up lanes are down the hill in front of the school. The upper drive is reserved for emergency vehicles and for dropping off students who may be disabled/injured. Thank you for your help with this!

WINTERFEST

The moment you have all been waiting for! The winner of the beach day door contest is Mr. Carl's fourth hour. There was a tie for second place between Mrs. Newberry and Ms. Matthews fourth hour.  Third place was Mr. Erb's fourth hour. Thank you to everyone who helped decorate the doors and voted! COURSE OFFERINGS

Film As Lit

Attention movie lovers! Film as Lit is a one-semester elective that is offered at HHS. In this class, we watch a variety of movies over several genres, analyze them, and look at how the movie was made. 100% of last semester's class said they would recommend Film as Lit to a friend. Sign up for it on your schedule today! If you have any questions, please talk to Ms. Slaughter or Ms. Northrop.

 

 

Ecology

If you are interested in learning more about trees, moss, lichen, wetlands, rivers, streams, water quality, AND you like to be outside learning, then the Ecology Classes are for you! With Forest Ecology offered in the fall and Wetland Ecology offered in the spring, you could be outside and appreciating nature all year! Sign up for the class on your schedule today! If you have any questions, please talk to Ms. Slaughter.

SCHEDULING LESSONS

Attention 9th-11th graders! The counseling department will be having Scheduling Lessons this week! During your English classes, each grade will plan out their schedules for next school year. Make sure to bring your computers and chargers to your meeting!  (2/13)

 

 

Campus Visit

Are you seriously considering college after high school? Would you like to learn more about academics, student life, and food at Central Michigan University? If you answered “yes” to either of these questions, consider signing up for the campus visit to CMU on Feb. 19. Come to the Counseling Department.to sign up and get a permission slip. Your grades, attendance/tardies, and behavior are considered, and upperclassmen will be given priority. (2/16)

 

 

 

QUIZ BOWL

 

The Quiz Bowl team had their second competition last night, building on their experience from last week. They lost to Ionia in a tiebreaker, but walked away with a big win against Waverly, answering questions about still life paintings, Slaughterhouse-Five, and the movie Twisters. (2/13)

 

 

 

 

CLUBS

 

SKI CLUB

The next Ski and Snowboard Club trip to Bittersweet will be on Friday, February 20th. This is our day trip, and we will be leaving HMS at 9:30 and returning at 5:00pm. If you are interested in going, you must turn in your $5 for the bus by Wednesday, February 18th. If you have questions, contact Mrs. Laubaugh at kristen.laubaugh@hassk12.org (2/20)

Fellowship of Christian Athletes will meet Wednesday morning in Mr. Murphys classroom B116. We will meet at 7:20am.

RESULTS from coaches

Bowling

The Saxons bowled Thornapple-Kellogg on Wednesday.

The Varsity Saxon boys winning 27-3 over the Varsity TK Boys. Points earned by Aiden Hook for his 180, and Dakota Cole for his 204. 2 pts earned by Owen Boge 204,166, Andrew Barton 183, 180, Brody Mix 241, 216. Also 10 for Bakers with a 214 and 183.

The Varsity Saxon Girls lost to Varsity TK Girls 11-19. Points earned Chloe Pirtle 149, Tempy Jiles 125, Megan Ramey 135 with her second game a 135 also. The Varsity Girls split Bakers with their winning game a 147.

The Saxon JV Boys Gavin Mix bowled a 131, 106 and Max Steele bowled a 138, and 106. The Saxons bowlers are bowling in their I-8 Conference Singles at JAX 60 in Jackson this Friday Feb 13th.

 

Girls JV Basketball

The JV Girls Basketball team traveled to Pennfield last night night and pulled off another win! The Saxons were very patient with the ball on offense and played well defensively. Lilly Randall even took a charge! Scoring for the Saxons were Ashtyn Denton with 10. Molly McFarlan with 12. Kim Coolidge with 8. and Addie Girrbach with 5. The record for JV currently Is 8-8. The girls next home game is Monday against Olivet @ 5:30!
