A Message from Hastings Area Schools

HASTINGS ON THE BALLOT: WHAT TO KNOW FOR THE NOVEMBER ELECTION

During the November 3, 2026 election, our community will vote on a school bond proposal for Hastings Area School System. If approved by voters, this bond would provide $24,800,000 for district-wide improvements with an estimated zero tax rate increase over the current rate. We have all the pertinent details on this proposal, including what specific projects it would fund, on our website at: https://www.hassk12.org/o/has/page/2026-bond-proposal

HELP KEEP OUR SAXONS MOVING!
Like districts across West Michigan and the state, we are facing a school bus driver shortage. Hastings Area School System currently has open positions, and we are reaching out to families and the community to help fill these important roles.

No previous bus-driving experience is necessary. We will pay for training, and new drivers will receive a $1,000 bonus on top of competitive pay and paid time off.

Float Building begins Sunday, September 13. Check your grade level schedule in the hallways or online for building days, time
and locations.

Homecoming Dance Tickets
Dance tickets will be on sale for $15 at both lunches. They will be available Monday, September 14 until Friday, September 25, with no tickets sold at the
door. If you are bringing an outside guest please acquire and return a dance guest form by Thursday, October 24. Guest forms
will be available at lunches or at Mrs. Mauer's desk and should be turned in to Mrs. Mauer in the office. Only students of high
school age -20 will be permitted at the dance.

SENIOR MEETINGS IN ENGLISH CLASSES
Seniors, mark your calendars for the upcoming Senior Meetings taking place on September 16 in your English class hour. Counselors will assist you with starting college applications and financial aid applications.  Please plan to bring your charged laptop and charger with you.  (9/15)

Lifeguard Certification Course
Dates:

·  Friday, Oct. 2 – 3:30–6:00 PM

·  Saturday, Oct. 3 – 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

·  Sunday, Oct. 4 – 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

Some online coursework must be completed before the in-person sessions.
Training and certification will be provided — no experience necessary!

CLUBS

NHS
Attention all juniors and seniors with a GPA of 3.375 or higher. You should have received a letter over the summer letting you know that you are eligible to apply for National Honor Society. Please stop by Mrs. Warner's room, B119, to pick up the official application sheet. All applications are due by September 30th. (9/4)

YIG
Hey, HHS Freshmen and Sophomores! Are you interested in learning how to become the change you want to see in your world? Then consider joining HHS's Youth in Government Delegation. Youth in Government is a YMCA program that trains teens to be active citizens who participate in their local, state, and national government and engage with the political process. There will be an informational meeting on Monday, September 7, at 1:00 PM in Ms. Putnam's room B205.

Athletics Sub Sale Fundraiser is now going on.  All orders are to be turned in by 9/14 and pick up will be 10/1

RESULTS from coaches

Girls Golf
Hastings girls golf battled the heat to finish 4th at the I-8 Jamboree at Harper Creek! Junior Lilli Edger fired a 44 to finish 3rd individually out of the entire conference field. Great effort in tough conditions!
