Parent/Volunteer Activities

The parent-teacher organization at HMS is called the HMS PTO. The PTO usually meets the 3rd Monday of the month with the exception of one meeting.  See the MS calendar, Hastings Middle School Facebook Page, HMS daily announcements for the current schedule. The group plans upcoming events, such as dances and fund-raisers.

Helping Hands are occasionally needed at the Middle School to help with assorted projects: chaperoning dances and field trips etc.. HMS Parent group members will compose a list of volunteers to contact. Helping Hands includes daytime and evening activities.

Special Event Activities are planned throughout the year. Parent, guardians, or grandparents are needed to help plan, organize and work at the events and activities (dances, activity nights, meets, etc.) that are scheduled for the year. Involves both daytime and evening activities.

Staff Appreciation is held during the month of May. Volunteers are needed to form a committee to decide what the M.S.C.N. will do to recognize the hard work and dedication of the HMS staff.

Band Boosters is an organization that includes all the parents of the students involved in the band program at Hastings Area Schools. Band Boosters support the band program by chaperoning all events, uniform maintenance and financial support for travel, awards, scholarships and large equipment for the total band program. All band parents are encouraged to attend meetings held the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Hastings High School band room. Band boosters is fun and a great way to support the tradition of excellence in the band program at Hastings .

Athletic Boosters is similar to band boosters in that it supports students in their pursuit of excellence. It is done in cooperation with parents of high school athletes to achieve a common goal. Information on this organization, including the meeting times and events, can be obtained by calling the high school athletic office at 948-4409.
