The Hastings Area School System's Board of Education will be meeting tomorrow night for its regularly-scheduled monthly meeting.
This week, some of our incredible 8th grade art students helped create something special for their HMS community. They designed a “little” note addressed to all 600 HMS students, reminding each and every one of them that they make our school a better and more unique place just by being part of it.
Even more meaningful was the fact that every single HMS student’s name is handwritten on the large envelope. 💙

This PTO-sponsored event will include all the fun activities students were looking forward to — music, games, swimming, pizza, and more. We’re looking forward to a great night together!
Event Details:
Volunteers should arrive at 3:00 PM
Students will be admitted beginning at 3:30 PM
The event will end at 5:30 PM
Students are not allowed to leave early unless a parent/guardian comes in to sign them out
Please plan to pick up your student promptly at 5:30 PM

Wow! Everyone who organized and participated in last week’s WinterFest truly showed up in a big way. Not only did we have an incredible time, but together we raised an amazing $9,284.54 for the Lucas family to help Nolan get a diabetes service dog.
That’s huge and just another example of our school community supporting one another.

Important 8th Grade Parent Meeting All 8th-grade parents are invited to an important meeting Wednesday, February 11, from 5:30–6:30 p.m. at the Hastings High School Performing Arts Center. Join us to hear from the high school team and learn about scheduling and the transition to high school.
Due to poor weather, driving conditions and the existing winter weather advisory that will extend through the day, HASS is closed for Friday, February 6.
A huge thank you to Amergy Disposal and Velo Law for their generous donations that allowed the Hastings Middle School wrestling program to purchase a scale for the team!
Having a dedicated scale helps our athletes monitor their weight safely and consistently, making practices and competitions run much more smoothly.
We are especially excited to see the continued growth of the Middle School girls' wrestling program. In just two years, we have grown from only a few girls on the team to more than 15 wrestlers, and the momentum keeps building.
Community support like this makes a real difference for our student-athletes. Thank you!

The ski club bus to Bittersweet is cancelled for tonight. Members may travel to Bittersweet on their own and Bittersweet will honor their ski club card. Next trip is Friday, Feb. 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The HMS Activity Night at the CERC has been canceled for Today.

Attention Hastings Middle School — Activity Night is THIS Friday @ the CERC from 3:30 to 5:30. The cost is $3 to get in. Karaoke, swimming, a DJ, games, and concessions will be sold (Pizza & Pop!). It’s going to be a great time, so make sure you’re there.
The Ski and Snowboard will be traveling to Bittersweet this Friday, February 6th. If you want to go, you must pay $5 for your bus ticket by noon on Wednesday.

We’ll be joining in on the Winterfest fun with a Spirit Week at Hastings Middle School next week. Participation is optional, but we’re hoping it adds some positive energy and excitement for our students.
The FFA chapters from Hastings High School and Hastings Middle School traveled to Olivet last night to compete in the district contest.
At the high school level, Annmarie Allerding earned 5th place in the Job Interview category, and Carissa Rosenberger placed 3rd — congratulations!
The Hastings Middle School Conduct of Meetings team received a silver rating at the district competition. Team members include Olive Wescott, Brenden Haywood, Natalie Miller, Holly Casarez, Miley Schweizer, Cora Timmers, Jasper Busson, Audi Stonehouse, and Preston Greenfield.
Middle school coaches include Kevin Doyle, Kaylie Carl, and Devin Haywood, all of whom are Hastings FFA alumni. The Middle School FFA Advisor is Carrie Carl.
