In Mr. Renner’s Advanced Innovation and Design classroom at the Middle School, the low hum of 3D printers is pretty constant. Students bring creative ideas to life and Brenden is a perfect example.
When tasked with printing a project that “solved a problem,” Brenden went to work. Building on a keychain project that he printed last year, he designed and built a custom keychain holder styled after Piranha Plant from the Super Mario franchise.
Brenden said this was his most elaborate print job, complete with moving parts that he assembled.
Looks great! 🎮 🍄

Picture Retake Day is TOMORROW — Tuesday, October 13th!
If your student missed the original picture day or would like a retake, tomorrow is the day!
📷 A few important reminders:
Retakes: Bring back your picture packet. If you don't bring it, you'll need to purchase another packet.
First-time pictures: Bring your original order form or order pictures online. Forms with the online ordering code should also be available at retakes for students to bring home.
We look forward to seeing those Saxon smiles! 😁

The Young Citizenship Award recognizes students who show exceptional character, leadership, positive attitudes, and dedication to serving others.
Presented by the Hastings Kiwanis Club, this award honors two 5th graders each month, as well as two students from each grade level at the Middle School. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate kids who do the right thing every single day!

A huge shoutout to Mrs. Wigg’s Middle School leadership class for bringing a splash of color and Halloween spirit to our district!
They just finished crafting these amazingly decorated pumpkins, which are heading out to our elementary schools and admin building for everyone to enjoy. They look great!

Hastings Middle School has been having a blast with their PoP fundraiser! Funds raised go directly toward covering field trips and student activities throughout the school year.
On Friday, some lucky students got to live out every kid's dream: sliming a teacher or staff member. Safe to say, they didn't hold back!

Another Homecoming in the books, and what a fun week it’s been! Tonight's parade and victory at Baum Stadium was the perfect way to cap it off. It was so much fun seeing so many familiar faces. We hope our students had as much fun celebrating as we did! It's a great day to be a Saxon!

Big thanks to the Barry County Youth Advisory Council (YAC)!
With a recent mini-grant, the Hastings Middle School football team added brand-new 12 lb, heavy-duty foam tackling dummies to their practice field this season.
The mini-grant program is unique because it is youth funding youth! Each year, the Barry Community Foundation YAC awards thousands of dollars to local non-profits supporting young people across our community.
Our players and coaches really appreciate the support!
