Report Cards:  Report Cards will go home October 20, 2021.   We are always happy to discuss your child’s education with you, if you would like a time to conference, please reach out to us.  

 

FFA MEMBERS:

If you have turned in your green sheet and paid your $5 dues for the year, you are all set.

Our next meeting is today,  Monday, October 18th, in the choir room. Check in with your advisory teacher and head down to the choir room.

We will be talking about leadership contests and our fall gathering that is coming up. Just stop by and see Mrs. Carl if you have any questions.

 

Athletics:

Photos:  If you have pictures you have taken at HMS sporting events, we would welcome them for yearbook consideration! Please send them to: Karleen.birman@hassk12.org  Thank you!

 

Boys Basketball: Boys Middle School Basketball will begin practice/try-outs Wednesday, October 20, right after school. A physical must be on file to participate!

 

Wrestling: Wrestling does not begin until after we return from winter break in January. 

 

Cross Country: Our next meet is October 23 at Turkeyville for the I-8 Championship. Departure is planned for 8:00 a.m. 

 

MS Volleyball:

The Saxons have their final game of the season today(Oct. 18) as they play RW Kidder Middle School.  Departure is planned for 2:30. 

 

Other upcoming dates for Choir:

Nov. 9th - In house field trip - MSU Vocal Arts Outreach Program  (during school day for choir students - how exciting!)

Nov 18th - GR Symphony Orchestra Concert - HPAC CLICK HERE for tickets

This is an optional concert to attend.  It does require tickets.

Dec 5th - HS Holiday Concert 2 & 4pm

This is the High School choral concert.  It is optional to come and be an audience member.

Dec 7th - MS Christmas Choir Concert 7pm

This is the Middle School Choral concert and is mandatory!

Dec 10th - Three Men and A Tenor: The HaHa Holidays Show - HPAC CLICK HERE for tickets

This is an optional concert to attend.  It does require tickets.

 

HPAC EVENTS:  The Friends of HPAC along with the Thornapple Apple Arts Council are excited to present four special events this year in the Hastings Performing Arts Center!  These events have been made possible by the generosity of the DeCamp Family Foundation.

  • Nov. 18 - Grand Rapids Symphony: Home for the Holidays
  • Dec. 10 - Three Men and A Tenor: The HaHa Holidays Show!
  • Feb. 18 - Edye Evans Hyde:  West Michigan's First Lady of Song with the Terry Lower Trio
  • April 29 -  Jazz and Pop Artist Aubry Logan brought to you by Mark & Margaret Christensen and the Dempsey Foundation

All event tickets are $10.

Students are invited to attend the Grand Rapids Symphony Concert for free, but must have a reserved ticket.  All students must be accompanied by an adult and may be asked to present their student ID at the point of entry.  Student tickets are $10 for the other three events.

School Pictures:   Pictures taken on retake day can be ordered online at Inter-state.com/order using code: 61967TA.  If you are interested in purchasing pictures from the original picture day,  you still can.  Go online to Inter-state.com/order and use code: 59447CB.

 

Hand 2 Hand: Hand 2 Hand is a program which helps provide food for the weekends and is intended for families who may be experiencing financial hardship. Parent permission is required to participate.  If you would like to sign-up for Hand 2 Hand, please stop by the office or contact Mrs. Harris to get a permission slip.

 

Counseling Department: We are offering small groups to teach students skills that they need to be successful at school and in life! Some of the topics are Self-Esteem, Emotional Regulation, Organization Skills, Grief, & Social Skills and relationships. If you would like your student to participate, please fill out this form to indicate interest. There is limited room but we will offer new groups every marking period. Parent permission will be needed for participation.
